Jon Matlack | LSE Ideas Anthony D. Smith Fellowship

Jon "Jack" Matlack is the 2023 recipent of the Anthony D. Smith Fellowship at LSE IDEAS, the foreign policy think tank of the London School of Economics and Political Science. This fellowship is also provided by the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN). While in London, Jack aims to further deepen his understanding of national identity, warfare, and the military from expertise at the LSE, such as Prof. John Hutchinson and Prof. John Breuilly. Also on the schedule is networking with London's established expertise in war gaming at King's College. And there is always time to sneak over to the British National Archives to examine documents related to his dissertation research.
