We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Oliver C. Ruppel (Stellenbosch / Graz) in person to Regensburg for the final talk in the DIMAS and ScienceCampus lecture series on Climate Change: Action and Law. This lecture will address pressing climate issues from an African perspective. It will elaborate on selected litigation efforts and other climate activities in selected African countries.

Professor Oliver C. Ruppel is a Professor of Law and Director of the Development and Rule of Law Programme (DROP) at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Director of ClimLaw: the Graz Reserch Center for Climate Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Graz. It is part of the interdisciplinary Field of Excellence "Climate Change Graz" of the University of Graz, an association of researchers at Graz University who jointly research and share their knowledge on climate change and sustainability. At Stellenbosch, he also established the Development and Rule of Law Programme (DROP) in 2012. At DROP the special emphasis lies on the linkage between law and development, focusing on reconciling the tensions between environmental sustainability, economic growth and human welfare.
